A Fun Charity Idea

With all of the craziness of moving and Tim's surgery, we missed doing Operation Christmas Child this year.  The kids really wanted to make shoe boxes, so we made boxes for Meals on Wheels instead.  It was fun thinking about what would be useful and delightful to the elderly.  If you are interested in doing this project, check with your local Meals on Wheels to see when they require the boxes be dropped off. Here is a list of ideas:
  • Lotion
  • Sun screen
  • Shampoo
  • Tea bags
  • Hard candy
  • Chocolate
  • Microwave popcorn
  • Decorative purse or wallet
  • Nail kit
  • Candle
  • Place mats for two
  • Stationary
  • Warm hat and mittens
  • Christmas music CD
  • A cute stuffed animal (that would look good on a shelf until the grandkids visit)
  • Fun colored pens
There is a constant need for pet food as well.  Pets are wonderful for seniors, but their care and upkeep can be cost prohibitive.

Blessings, Dawn
