Pushing On ...

This week was filled with highs and lows. There were tears for what has been lost and what is yet to be lost due to COVID-19.  Seeing all of the unkindness, fear, hate and violence that is sweeping our country is really taking a toll on us. But there were also joys over the opportunity to perform -- even if it was outside, with a tiny audience of 12. We push on and remain flexible to opportunities that come our way. We work to be kind to all that pass our way and to do all that we can to keep ourselves safe. It really is all that we can do. I am short for time today and will highlight our week through bullets.

  • We finally have another appointment for Vocational Rehab. Elijah will meet with his support person next Thursday and decide the next course of action.
  • Salem (kitten) got her check up and last kitten shot. She is now 16 weeks old and 5.9 pounds. She is doing great.
  • Anne finished her U.S. History Detective Book 2 and her midterm exam. She has only 10 more weeks of history to go.
  • I recorded a few more of Elijah's credits here on the blog. I hope to finish the rest next week.
  • Anne finished reading The Pearl and will be doing a paper on it next week.
  • I managed to get rid of or sell 111 things this week. Yes, I'm keeping track of it. We cut the DVDs down by two thirds and sorted through all of Elijah's clothing for the first time in more than a year. It feels good to make space and be responsible for a lighter load.
  • Elijah and Tim took over responsibility for their own laundry a few weeks ago. It is going well so far.
  • My Mom is back in her home, but it is still filled to the ceiling with packing boxes that need to be unpacked and the kitchen floor is not done yet, so her kitchen/dining room furniture is still in the living room. We will be getting her settled over the next few weeks.
I do hope that all of you are safe and sound. Bless those less fortunate.

Blessings, Dawn

  1. It can be so discouraging to think about/ face all that is going on in our world right now. I hate feeling like I have tunnel vision or that I'm just sticking my head in the sand but I definitely find I feel better mentally when I just focus on our little corner of the world and what we can do to help others.

  2. How beautiful Anne is! That's what to focus on--the goodness you and your family are and bring to all. I'm wishing you all productive work sessions getting your mom settled and awesome job opportunities for Elijah!

I love getting rid of things, too. :)

  3. Wow, way to go on the decluttering! Would love to see a picture of the new kitten. <3

  4. I think finding those little happy things makes a big difference for me too! I love the decluttering, I just wish my kids and husband did too. ;)

  5. Good job on the decluttering, I'm trying to do that as well. Anne looks lovely as always in her dance attire.

  6. such a great photo of your daughter. I too am decluttering our home, easier than thinking about the world right now:(. Hang in there, the world will right itself eventually, I hope
