The kids were in a science fair hosted by our homeschool group last week. They each worked hard on their projects.
Pretty ~
Happy ~
I was happy to see that they all did good on their interviews. Little Red Riding Hood and Tom Sawyer also demonstrated small experiments for the judges. We were all happy that the experiments worked in front of the judges. The picture of the pie dish shows a rainbow forming when food coloring is added to milk.
Funny ~
Goldilocks did her science project on how quickly our Lab/Dane mix would eat different toys. I think it is so funny to look at the destruction he made. Notice the broken toys and bag of stuffing from one toy. All of the toys were given to him for up to one hour. This dog is a real chewer.
Real ~
The way the judging was handled was a bit strange. I won't go into it here. However, I would have only given out first, second and third instead of a whole bunch of first and seconds plus three grand prizes (even though that would have meant that some if not all of mine would not have gotten a ribbon). All the kids who got second place knew they had ended up in the bottom group. I would have given out certificates of participation instead, and let there be only a few winners. As it is, two of ours got second and one got first. Our son had a lot of tears about getting second place. However, he was able to talk about how his interview could be stronger next time and how we should type up everything for the board (his handwriting is poor due to cerebral palsy).

Those look like interesting projects. Congratulations on the ribbons!
ReplyDeleteThey all did a great job! I had to laugh at the dog toys. :)
ReplyDeleteThe dog toy experiement is very cleaver. I love that kind of "out of the box" project. All of their presentations look great - congrats!
